Internal Solutions - Aneke released

Re: Internal Solutions
Harsh, Afobe keeps picking up injuries and wrecked his development. Saw him play for Huddersfield a few times and he looked decent enough to have made a lving as championship 2nd striker but we obviously f**ked up AGAIN with injuries in his early years because everytime I've looked him up for the past couple of seasons he's just coming back from yet another injury.1989 wrote:Gone the way of Jay Simpson, Mark Randall, et al.Arsenal Till I Die wrote:What the hell happened the Afobe?

Jay Simpson was always destined to be a championship striker and got a few goals in Hulls promotion push last season.Heard he was now in the far east. Mark Randall was just sh*t.

Re: Internal Solutions
Wasn't Ansah another of the so called wonderboys i.e. the little Man U supporting prick who was cheering when they scored against us?QuartzGooner wrote:http://arsenalyouth.wordpress.com/

Re: Internal Solutions
Yeah Ansah was the one who tweeted about supporting Man Utd.
Maybe he has grown up since then?
His father Andy is good bloke, met him, positive vibes.
Was at a corporate do with lots of marketing "suits" running about trying to make themselves look important whilst he was ignoring the corporate nonsense and just chatting to us about football, very down to earth.
"Tekkers!"
As the article points out, we still have Miquel, Akpom and Afobe.
There is little doubt about the potential and competitiveness of Afobe, it is all about whether he can come back from a run of injuries to be Premiership level or has missed a vital part of his development and he will find his level in the Championship.
Akpom looked very bright last pre-season, he too has had some injuries.
At his age (18) there is little point in selling him just yet, might as well loan him to a Championship club and see how he copes with regular football, or loan Sanogo and use Akpom as third choice behind Giroud and a new striker.
I have a feeling we will see Walcott used up front a bit more this season too as Ozil and Gnabry and The Ox play more often right midfield, which means only one of Afobe or Akpom will be retained by the club for the mid-term.

Gnabry will come into the running properly this season...not only does he have pace like Ox & Theo - but he reads the game well, can pick a pass and isn't afraid to take on defenders and shoot from outside the box.

Would love to see Gnabry succeed. Granted we already have options in a similar mould with Walcott and The Ox (who will both hopefully continue to improve) but Gnabry's directness and pace in possession are invaluable assets and a nightmare for any defence. His performance against the Scum was excellent and it will be nice to have an option on the bench who can really change the tempo other than Rosicky.

Where else in the UK do you get overrated youngsters who then turn out for the likes of Oldham?DB10GOONER wrote:Arsenal youth policy; so much time, so much mediocrity.![]()
