The fairest thing to do would be to reduce the game to 30 minutes each way, take the time keeping away from the referee and have someone who starts and stops the clock when the ball is actually in play. That way all time wasting would be pointless.
That said, there is a much bigger argument against making the change suggested and that is, if injury time didn’t exist, the miracle of Anfield 89 wouldn’t have happened. So let’s just stick with what we have!
Extra Time
Re: Extra Time
No, because then it turns into basketball. Which is far worse. There would be more time wasting when the clock is stopped, it wouldn't eliminate it.Skooner wrote:The fairest thing to do would be to reduce the game to 30 minutes each way, take the time keeping away from the referee and have someone who starts and stops the clock when the ball is actually in play. We are talking about extra time btw, not injury time.

The original post talked about stopping the clock at exactly 90 minutesgp543 wrote:No, because then it turns into basketball. Which is far worse. I'm not saying I want to basketball style timing and it doesn't mean people won't be messing about, but it would stop the contraversy of how much added time there is, at the moment it generally seems pretty random what referees add time on for. At one point it was supposed to be extra 30 seconds for a substitution and 30 seconds per goal, which in itself seemed quite random.
Can't see the problem with extra time and penalties. There are other options but overall it isn't unfair.

Yep, that's true. I'd never heard of it before so looked it up in The Oxford English dictionary and found that.DB10GOONER wrote:If you look up "rugby" in the dictionary I believe you will find the above definition more or less word for word.Perryashburtongroves wrote:Rugby is a game for wankers and closet homosexuals.
