I'm not an Ozil hater but on the basis of his World Cup I would not be in a hurry to part with 42 large to sign him if he wasn't already on the books. He a luxury item in a team missing so much of the basics, if we sign the players in the positions we need then we will be able to indulge his lethargic performances but otherwise we'll end up playing a lot of games with the equivalent of ten men.

He's by no means bossing the game, but every touch I see from Özil (apart from that shot he just took! ) has been absolute quality.

But, he hasn't dribbled past five players before whacking a screamer in from 30 yards yet. So, y'know, he's shite.

I would have settled for seeing him dribbling past one player and then at least attempting a shot rather than what's becoming the usual lack-lustre performance he put in!! Still, I know it has now become a fad to say you don't/can't appreciate football if you dare criticise a supposedly world class player - even when their performances don't live up to reputation!!

Don't know what the surprise is about Germans winning, they've always been good at getting a group of young men well trained and ready to conquer the World with their discipline, efficiency and brilliance

To the people questioning Özil's price tag and/or quality;

Back when we were all creaming ourselves over his signing, what did you think we were getting when we signed him? I thought we were signing an incredibly gifted midfield player who is extremely tidy on the ball, wastes possession very rarely and sees passes that hardly anyone else does (cue the big-eye jokes).

Now, although his work-rate has come under question, and I won't deny that his first season was by no means sensational, I can still see that he is a quality, quality footballer - and I think he showed it today in the final with some of his contributions.

So, did some of you think we were buying a marauding winger? Or did you think we were buying a 30 goal a season striker? Or were you just jizzing over the transfer fee?
