I'm happy about this. Who were people hoping we'd sign? As others have said a few years ago Sagna would have been replaced by another kid. Personally I rate Jenkinson but he's not ready to be first choice, having another experienced player to learn from/compete with is a good idea.
As good as he is I'm glad we didn't get held to ransom for Coleman.

I'm fairly pleased with this, I'm quietly confident he will do well for us.
He's not as good in the air as Bac was though, so the 'tactic' of lumping it down the right for him to win the header on the touchline will need a re-think.

Was thinking the exact same thing this morning. Cant just whack it out from a goal kick straight to Sagna anymore which we did every time last year.remigardeshair wrote:I'm fairly pleased with this, I'm quietly confident he will do well for us.

playing for Arsenal that's almost certain to happen.officepest wrote:It's a lot to spend for someone of his age but I understand the logic of Wenger signing him (he's french), and we desperately needed a replacement for Sagna.
I sincerely hope he can hit the ground running.

Well, he may as well get an early meeting with our very own Doctors Crippen, Mengele & Shipman as he'll probably end up spending 50% of his time on our treatment table.arseofacrow wrote:playing for Arsenal that's almost certain to happen.officepest wrote:It's a lot to spend for someone of his age but I understand the logic of Wenger signing him (he's french), and we desperately needed a replacement for Sagna.

What about Kevin Davies as a right-back? Would definitely have that part of the job coveredbang goes the 0-0 draw wrote:Was thinking the exact same thing this morning. Not every signing has to make the backpage. I think it is a sensible signing. He is used to the Premier League, experienced and from what I have seen of him, very solid. It was a shame Sagna decided to leave but in Debuchy I think we have a replacement who is at his level and for a decent price considering we could get 4 or 5 years out of him.
It may not be an incredibly exciting signing but it is another important part of the team sorted and as long as Wenger continues in this vain this window and signs the DM we need (incidently I feel Schneiderlin fits the bill for much the same reasons Debuchy does) then I will be very happy.

I think he will be good competition for Jenkinson to see who plays in the position.
