To be fair we had Hayden and fu*king Monreal as our CB's: one is an academy player and the other is an undersized fullback.topgoon wrote:

We conceded from a set piece with Hayden and Monreal as our CB's, in a meaningless friendly. We're fucked I tells ya, we're sooooo fucked!topgoon wrote:Stop being a tw*t. He may not be an out and out striker, but he's still a striker, just a different type. Similar to Messi, Tevez or Thomas Muller.topgoon wrote:1989 wrote:Sánchez is.Midz wrote:We could do really well if he bought an outright striker though. None of the above are what you'd call world class strikers.
Sanchez is not an outright striker, stop wa*king over him.
Like it or not, Sánchez is our new striker as per AW.
Oh and I can't stop wanking over him alright, what a player.

Cheers Augie you saved me the trouble.
We were not organised when that corner came in. We were all over the show. Even Chesney inexplicably comes flying out. He stays on the line he blocks that crap journeyman footballers shot. We shipped a goal to a guy who didn't make it at Charlton when they were in League one.
My point was and still is our back up is a kid who whilst decent will look sh*t with awful defensive organisation. We cannot rely on just Kos and BFG all season again. We also need a leader. Flamini was better at that in the 2nd half but no one took up the mantle in the 1st half.
If Arteta and TV5 leave as I expect them to before the window ends, you cannot make Rambo captain. He is not the type of captain we need. We don't need Stevie Mee inspirational type captains. We need a bullier, a shouter and an organiser. Someone in TA's guise.
Yes I overreacted but I watch friendlies especially ours in the last decade to see what we've learnt from last season's f**k ups and it depresses me to know I can write off our season AGAIN because nothings changed.
But 1989 if you are happy then good luck to you. Enjoy the rollercoaster ride. If we come above 3rd I will admit I was wrong and you can call me out on it. But I think we all know I'm on a safe bet here.

Mertesacker is clearly already the leader of the team and will be made captain if Arteta and Vermaelen both leave - he's already 3rd choice.topgoon wrote: If Arteta and TV5 leave as I expect them to before the window ends, you cannot make Rambo captain.

Hope you are right but his track record in choosing captains has been rather odd in the last 2-3yrs. I still can't believe he took it off Gilberto.
Re: Arsenal vs. New York Red Bulls, July 26th
i watched the first half but when i saw our 6-4-0 formation i just had to laugh, it was a nothing game organised to sell shirts in the puma store and to big up mr th14.
lets not get carried away .

Imagine feeling pessimistic about the season ahead based on friendly results. Lol.
Topgoon you must have thought we would win the quadruple after we beat Man City 3-1 in a friendly in Finland last summer.

Mertesacker should be made captain anyway. Arteta has been a good professional for us but don't really see him as a captain, especially turning in the sort of turgid displays that he was regularly doing last year.
Having Vermaelen captain is a joke, we're not the fucking Scum with a separate 'club captain'. He can't even get a game unless we have injuries, stay or not it's laughable to think of him as our captain and after spending all season on the bench and obviously not being viewed as indispensable it's hardly sending out a huge message to take it off him.
Tbh I don't think that team losing that game tells us anything we didn't already know. I know it's a pre-season friendly and this game in particular was just about raising commercial profile but there really is no point playing games with one CB and no strikers. We're going to get absolutely nothing from it, would be better sticking kids in to fill those positions so at least we have a bit of shape and the rest of the team can treat the game properly.

Wenger loves setting new records. First prem side to lose to a MLS side.

The happy pills are stopping you from reading properly.
IT IS NOT THE RESULT. It's the formation of the team, the style of play, how organised we are defensively across the whole team. For set pieces and everything else.
You are deliberately not meeting me head on regarding the points I am making.
That means one thing and one thing alone, you secretly agree with me and it's causing a great conflict within you.
Come on man admit it. The. Jehovahs say the Truth will set you free. Amen brother just do it...you'll feel better.
