Don't talk nonsense. European Cup Winners with a massive support worldwide. They're a huge club.

What a load of bollocks

On what basis mc ? Hate their sectarian base and media hype and that is fair enough, but they are still a massive club with a massive worldwide fanbase and if they relocated to the English premier league, they would certainly be in the top 8 clubs no probs

fuck celtic and fuck rangers, two clubs together who built up fanbases from sectarian hatred, if it wasnt for killings in the north of ireland then either club would be as big as hibs/hearts.

They're a huge club. I don't see how it can even be debated liking them or not. Look at the worldwide support as well, it's massive. The European Cup isn't an automatic qualification to be huge, but combined with what they are, it adds to just how big they are.

You should look into the history of the clubs before making statements like that.

Top 8?

Must make Legia Warsaw a European powerhouse.

If Celtic moved to England based on their current squad and tqctis they wouldn't get out of the Championship.

They certainly do have a massive following, even in the States. But alot of those "fans" will never attend even one match and are sucked in by all the "Celtic are an Oirish Catholic team" sectarian bollocks.

i know the history of both clubs, they are called the old firm for a reason as neither can do anything without the other for monetary reasons, both clubs tap into the history of ireland and have been doing so for 100 years.

Demba Ba joined them recently but in reality these games are or should be a formality.
They also have Özyakup, former Arsenal player.

And if it wasn't for a plane crash in munich, manure would be nowhere near as big a club as they now are :( If it comes to it, maybe we wouldn't be as a big a club if we had of remained in south London ? Fact is that, for whatever reason, celtic (and rangers) are massive clubs worldwide despite the huge decline in Scottish football - a few seasons in the English prem league earning the massive tv money that English clubs do, would see both clubs being regular challengers for all the big trophies and regardless of the drunken/sectarian fans, that is an absolute reality

Exactly - how do you measure worldwide fanbase? Does an American who has no actual interest in 'soccer' but has Irish ancestry and would therefore answer "Celtic" if asked which football team do you support count equally as somebody who would fly over a few times a season because they loved watching their team that much?

This worldwide fanbase didn't help them reach 80% average capacity last season.

Besiktas huh? Should roll them over but could have had an easier draw.

Celtic very lucky as I thought a forfeit result was 2-0, when did it change to 3?

Don't want to keep labouring the point but if your opposition on a weekly basis was st Johnston or inverness cally etc, what hope would you have of selling out your stadium week nin and week out ?

Anyway back to the besiktas tie, am I the only one worried about this ? :o Not as fierce as a few years ago but turkey can still be quite intimidating and backbone is not what we are famous for

And this is what it ultimately boils down to - Celtic are a massive club.... FOR A SCOTTISH SIDE. People are - consciously or sub-consciously - making adjustments for this.

Nobody is disputing that they dwarf the SPL also-rans.
