Re: LEAGUE CUP THREAD
This match showed why rubbish like Rosicky and Podolski have no business here anymore. These are vastly vastly experienced international players who've been moaning about playing time, but when they get the chance what do they do?? They saunter around not giving a fuck, and Rosicky actually loses us the game with a stupid tackle you'd expect from the 17 year old defenders.
Podolski is robbing this club over 100k a week and all the guy can do is shoot, and even then he missed his chance. He has no pace, no skill, no work rate and most of all the guy can not make runs. Its so evident when he attempts to play in the middle or tries out wide compared to other players.

Re: LEAGUE CUP THREAD
that was one of the most disjointed displays I have ever seen from us.
the team is totally unbalanced -plenty of skill in midfield yes but with no defence and no striker to put the ball in the net it was a lost cause long before the end. I came away deflated not only because what we currently have is sub standard but also because there appears to be nobody of any quality coming through these days.
Bellerin can run a bit yes but it is frightening that he is our back up RB because he hasn't learnt how to defend at this level yet. It took me about an hour to realise Podolski was even playing!

Re: LEAGUE CUP THREAD
This game confirmed my suspicions that we should have sold Joel Campbell post world cup as well as Podolski who is expensive (and ineffective) back up.
Rosicky is another who should be moved on. At least Diaby didnt get injured again.
The younger players did do ok, but it is laughable that we have a defensive crisis ALREADY in September. Nothing but poor planning from the manager.

Totally agree with you.

Re: LEAGUE CUP THREAD
Hugely disappointing to go out at the first hurdle, especially with a winnable home fixture.
For me key to this defeat was the selection of the right footed midfielder Coquelin at left back. Southampton targeted him from kick off and Clynn was bombing on does that side with Podolski obviously not tracking him back. Coquelin was clearly uncomfortable both going forward and trying to defend on that side. Once Saints were ahead Arsenal had to push men forward and we were all at sea at the back, to be fair Saints could've scored 4 or 5.
If I can draw one positive from the night it would be the performance of Ospina in goal. His kicking was a little erratic but he has a big imposing frame and made a few good saves.
The ref was a joke, Saints predictably spent the entire second half time wasting but the ref took no action until the last 5 mins when he decided to start booking them when the games already decided! But seen it all before it'll never change.

Re: LEAGUE CUP THREAD
The penalty was totally nailed on, player tackled running away from goal- total toilet play by him.
2 more set play goals conceded. (If you can count a penalty as set play that is
)
The shot from Clyne though good shouldn't have happened, no one seemed interested in closing him down.

Still absolutely fucked off 48 hours later - There's Only One Useless Wanker had better have saved all our main players for a performance and a half against those fuckers on Saturday
Not even the end of September and there's only one winnable trophy left

What about Calendar Year champions; or the Stamina League; or even Most Weeks Spent In 1st Place?SteveO 35 wrote:Still absolutely fucked off 48 hours later - There's Only One Useless Wanker had better have saved all our main players for a performance and a half against those fuckers on Saturday

There's still loads of trophies available

Re: LEAGUE CUP THREAD
Even our invaluable Calendar Year trophy will be disappearing this year. I think the Groundsman of the Year is still up for grabs though, so every cloud.....officepest wrote:What about Calendar Year champions; or the Stamina League; or even Most Weeks Spent In 1st Place?SteveO 35 wrote:Still absolutely fucked off 48 hours later - There's Only One Useless Wanker had better have saved all our main players for a performance and a half against those fuckers on Saturday

Re: LEAGUE CUP THREAD
I really think the "Most weeks spent in 1st Place" trophy is just not appreciated enough nowdays. Forget this petty shite of only being on top for two weeks and winning the league. The real Champions are on top for most of the season. Exept the end bit. It's like you got this dirty whore, right? And you bang away on her for hours but you can't shoot your muck. And then your mate saunters in and just sticks it in her mouth, a couple quick thrusts, fires his muck deep in her throat and sits back with a big old happy grin. Who do you think is the real winner there, huh?officepest wrote:What about Calendar Year champions; or the Stamina League; or even Most Weeks Spent In 1st Place?SteveO 35 wrote:Still absolutely fucked off 48 hours later - There's Only One Useless Wanker had better have saved all our main players for a performance and a half against those fuckers on Saturday

Oh, hang on...

Re: LEAGUE CUP THREAD
City knocked out tonight as well
What a pisser it would have been to have got through to the last 8 and had a chance of playing Bournemouth, Derby or Sheffield United for a chance to get to another Semi Final and a decent shout of Wembley
Still.....its "only the League Cup" eh? I'm sure with all the endless trophies coming our way and the Be All and End All last 16 to look forward to we won't miss it one bit. It was such a hassle having to watch us win the FA Cup in May - a major distraction from the real business of finishing 4th and only keeping the score down to 0-2 against Bayern
