THE WENGER THREAD

As we're unlikely to see terraces again at football, this is the virtual equivalent where you can chat to your hearts content about all football matters and, obviously, Arsenal in particular. This forum encourages all Gooners to visit and contribute so please keep it respectful, clean and topical.

If you go on Jacqui Oatley's Twitter page there is a lot about the Wenger interview, including some giving her abuse for asking such direct questions.

It's great that at last he was put more on the spot than ever before and I get that it was just after the game and tensions were high but he still reacted very poorly.

Jacqui Oatley take a bow :barscarf:

just watched it again. So she asked him why he hadn't strengthened the defence over the summer. He replied "you watched the game today. I can't understand why you would ask such a question" Truly embarrassing. He is a demented old fool. He had his chance to leave, he chose the money instead and for that he must now be driven out of the club.
"Its more a question of concentration than quality"

Yep, having Nacho Monreal at centre half in October is all about 'concentration'.....nothing to do with quality

"Lots of teams have bought many defenders and still concede too many goals"

Some of course lost 3 of their top defenders in Shaw, Lovren and Chambers and signed 3 replacements....and have conceded 5 goals in 8 games

The bloke doesn't even think about what he's saying these days. As Baba also pointed out "why do you always have to blame someone" he says after blaming the ref for their goal

Saw one comment on social media calling her a bitch.. Really thought Wenker was going to hit her with the "30 years" quote.

He really turns into a snarky, arrogant tosser when an interviewer actually puts a little bit of pressure on him doesn't he.

"You have been at the game, why do you ask a question like this about defenders?" :? Errmm, because we have a second choice LB playing in central defence because you neglected to build a proper squad?
He absolutely does, unbelievably flippant. You wait until he gets questions about fans booing or negative chants and he will really let everyone know how little he thinks of the fans. That interview at Villa Park back in 2012/13 was a disgrace. Over the last 3 seasons he has just about done enough to arrest our slides before they really got stuck into him.

Q. What is to blame for only winning 2 games from 8 so far?
A. .... I don't understand the question.

Q. A lot of the Arsenal supporters are looking at the fact there wasn't another centre-half or defensive midfielder signed in the summer. Can you understand why they're saying that?
A. I can understand everything.

He reminds me of the Charlton reign in Ireland..do not question me, if you are not here to praise me I do not want to talk to you. What was Jacqui Oatley suppose to do , praise him for "spotting" the talent that is Sanchez? If a reporter cannot question him then just imagine how little he values the opinion of supporters .

For me the title is gone already. On our current form, and Chelsea, as well as Manchester City, playing as they are, there is no way we will be able to catch them. In fact we may fall even further off the pace before too long. What really disappoints me is that within the club there was clearly not enough of a move to use the cup win as a starting point for a great new era of success. Once again we did not have enough of a clear plan for the transfer window, and are already paying the price.

Absolutely agree with the sentiment about the FA Cup win being a springboard. Of course Wenger leaving would have been an integral part of that process but I still can't believe how badly we are playing.

Unfortunately the reality is yet again the title was gone by the start of September.

He really doesn't like it when people are truthful with him does he...Just like the majority of our over pampered, delicate players - a bit of reality might wake the fuckers up from the dreamland they live in....I am fed up with all the journo's and ex-players who still treat him and them with Kid Gloves - FFS it takes a woman to man up and get in his face.

ps; Jacqui Oatley also looks rather shaggable - Get her a pint and whisky chaser somebody ! :D :barscarf:

She is though a fully qualified football coach.

This is the second week of PL matches in a row that he had lost the plot- OK we all like him pushing Maureen, but WTF- HE went into the opposing managers technical area. Now this- rude arrogant. Good for her- the first journo for a while to dare to ask him relevant questions.

Self harmings becoming a habit. :rubchin:
