To be fair it doesn't take much to make Gerrard look like a :censored: as he naturally does anyway

It was around 1979 or 80 (the year we played them 23 times in the cup before Talbot put us out of our misery). I made my own way there. Met a mate at Lime Street. Got the bus to the ground (fucking terrifying). A drunk Irishman spent 20 minutes asking me about the last game. I was sweating buckets wondering if it would be better trying to ignore him or feign a Scouse accent.
Got into the game full of hope to hear that Rix and Brady were injured. We lost 3-0. Had to avoid darts, ball bearings and police dogs on the walk back to the bus.

Shithole place, scumbag fans, never been back.

Totally agree mate - must only be a modern day myth about the 'best fans in the world'. Bunch of fucking scumbags the lot of them

been 5 times 2 wins 2 draws 1 defeat. Last game I went to Arshavin 4 Liverpool 4. Amazing game. Like yesterdays the first 20mins we were rollercoasted but flappy had an inspired game kept a rampant torres at bay. We still could've won it had bendtner not been ruled offside when he was level. A lot has happened since then.

Went in 1991 when we won 1-0 http://youtu.be/DxEZ4J-wRU4 liverpool to be fair played well and Seaman was outstanding, was strange during the warm up he was dropping everything and I commented to my brother that I hoped he was better during the game..... Merson scored he only goal as in the clip :barscarf: Atmosphere was shit too

Was even more special as I went with my brother and my dad and didn't go to many aways with my dad :) he had a fantastic time something special to treasure.

My dad always used to tell a story of his first visit to anfield in the 60's as a lad him and his mate went up there on the train (in the first ever televised game on match of the day) and walking back to the station after we lost he got mugged by liverpool fans and they nicked anything red but without Arsenal on it so that they could use the following week.... Wankers some things never change.

I still have a hatred of Liverpool akin to my hatred of sp*rs

Been in Anfield a few times but only once for an Arsenal game. That was May 1998 and we had wrapped up the title four days previous. FA Cup Final ten days later so Le Boss put out a second string side and we were beaten 4-0. Jesus Wept but the Victim fans singing "you're shit and you're Champions " was hard to listen to especially as we were sitting among them. I actually bought the tickets from Liverpool FC over the phone. The traveling Gooners were in great voice, and out sung the Mousers all game.
Got back to Dublin the following day to grief from Victim fans here, for some poxy reason they couldn't understand that Arsenal had made 10 changes for the game which meant nothing. No instead it was "we beat the Champions so we must be the best team in it ".

I'm pretty sure I can remember Diaby having a good game there a few years ago. Then again I could be imagining this 'Diaby' character too.

Was that the one where he came on for 9 minutes, hit a fresh air, then turned to the bench and asked to come off injured? :rubchin:

Sorry, I say "one", I really should try and narrow that down!

Herds first visit to Anfield on his birthday as a teenager ,witnesses this cracker of a match played on a mudbath pitch .

Laden with birthday money I set off on my own in my brand new sheepskin coat from Chatham about 9.30 whizzing through Victoria and up to Euston ,catching a special at about 10.45 .
Id never been there and neither had most of the people traveling but there where thousands making the trip that day.
At Lime Street no one seemed to know where to go or what to do , some started walking but i followed some lads and we got the bus from across the street , huge mistake.
Bus drops people off outside the Kop crawling with mousers who by know knew the cockney bastards were coming ,and a Boy with a sheepy doesn't come from liverpool where they were dressed like tramps.
After some jostling I managed to walk down the side to the Anfield road end just as large groups of Arsenal start to arrive and all go in . The anfield road end isnt segregated and many in there thought they would attack the cockneys but we had 3 or 4 thousand in there and took the back making quite an noise too ,something not done at that time .
Match was topsy turvy but I remember Alan ball getting abused by the Liverpool fans all through the match so when he rammed in the penalty he was pretty chuffed .
Radford the King got the 2nd and it was game over ................but not for us !
After the match the scousers went beserk and the Arsenal support seemed to melt as we walked down the road. There was no things as escorts and the coppers just laughed as the liverpool piled in all over the place ..... people just sort of kept their heads down and tried to blend in but I walked all the way back down scotland road and back towards lime street with in a highly nervous state.

Just when Lime street was in sight and I thought it was safe I walked down the road with st Georges hall on the right when a bunch O'scallies came out of an amusement arcade and tried to mug me for my sheepy . I was terrified but I was more terrified of my dad who would have blown a gasket if he knew id gone up there on my own . Quick as a flash i popped my automatic umbrella and in the nano second of surprise as they stood back i brushed 1 aside ran back to lime street faster than linford christie on steroids !
But to my horror when I got there people were getting mugged as they tried to board the train to london which was on platform 1 some of them were even on the train .........no barriers on platform 1 then !!!!!
By now though id built up such a head of steam and adrenaline so I jumped on the train and promptly locked myself in the toilet.
Eventually the train pulls out and we start the journey home however I didn't come out and till we had crossed the Mersey estuary at runcorn just to be sure.

Ive been to anfield many times but this was the scariest, but we won and in my eyes I had won too ,losing a brolly was considered a worthy sacrifice for my lovely sheepskin coat !

Next day my dad comes in my room and asked me how my day was before he headed off to Golf as usual and I made up some old bullshit and then he notices something on the floor ...........yesterdays programme from anfield ..........the game was UP !

5 Years later the Herd came back with his pals for a league cup semi..........this time there was to be no more mr nice guy !

Been up there a couple of times, thankfully did not get the grief Herd got, just a bit of verbals.

Remember a Spurs fan telling me about trouble they had in 70's and 80's, they got off the coaches and were immediately attacked with Stanley knives.

One time I was even in with their fans as a friend got me a ticket in there for free, I got sussed very quickly but got no grief.

Getting home was funny.
Fried drove, we used the Sat Nav which kept telling us "Turn Left".
So we did.
Eventually we end up in a cul-de-sac on an estate near Warrington.

So we put the postcode in again and try another route, only to be directed back to the same cul-de-sac!

Worked out the sat-nav was broken so yes....turned it off and on again. and then got back, took five hours though with road works.

Been a few times

First was the Neil Mellor late winner against our invincibles. Started the trend of players scoring worldies and getting their 5 minutes of fame against us.

Was also at the 4-4 when we all thought we'd brought one of the greatest players in the world with Andrei Arshavin. Also was there the following season when Andrei Arshavin scored a cracker to win the game 2-1 for us, scored twice in a few minutes.

A game that always stands out was a night game there in 2002/03 when we played some of the best football I've ever seen from an Arsenal team but ended up drawing 2-2 with Emile Heskey netting a completely undeserved last minute winner. If we'd held on we'd have likely have been crowned champions as well so pretty gutting all round that the scousers robbed us there as well.
