he should never be first choice as a winger at any club because that isn't his position. Team or squad has fuck all to do with the competition for individual positions. It's only about those that play in that position.

He was behind Rooney and Van Persie at Manure which is no disgrace. He was ahead of the little Mexican fella.

that would put him in the same position as it would the Ox if he were at Real Madrid but you don't give him the same allowance.

You're way too harsh on him mate.

I remember when we signed this little French fella from Juventus in 1999. He couldn't get a game for trying and was behind Inzaghi, Fonseca and Del Piero. On your logic that must have made him proper shit.

The guy that came from juve had already shown at Monaco, a team that was strong at the time (ironically until le cock fcuked them up  ) that he was one of THE promising young European footballers - he had impressed so much that juventus, who were one of Europe's elite clubs at the time, had spent big money to bring him to turin. Contrast that to wellbeck who, when it became clear that he was available, attracted the attention of the shammers, the scum and of course The Arsenal - does that not tell you how highly he is rated by other managers and clubs ?

Look, I don't mean to be harsh on wellbeck cos I do appreciate the work ethic he brings and truth be told my ire is again directed at le cock for signing another player who isn't at the required standard. If fans want to argue that he is better than I (and many others) believe, then that is fair enough, but I do find it hypocritical for some fans to take the moral ground when defending him because many previous AFC players have received a lot more criticism/abuse from fans

Whilst I've grown to like Welbeck I still think he is average on a good day and useless on a bad one. Welbeck's first touch is too loose tbh. Giroud is a better striker and a better footballer with a better tighter touch and offers the team alot more in the air, with scoring goals, with physically imposing himself, and in his link up play. And Giroud is mostly average with moments of brilliance at the best of times! :|

Neither are good enough to be first choice strikers in a team that has ambitions to win the PL and/or the CL to be honest. But that doesn't mean they can't play a role. If we had a top dog 20+ PL goals a season type striker playing in a 4-4-2 or variation thereof, then certainly Giroud would be useful as the second striker and Welbeck could rotate in and out too.

I'm as miserable as the next fucker but I don't see how an Arsenal win could ever feel like a defeat :? The exception being if Wenger announced categorically that he would resign if we failed to win a particular game and we ended up winning with a98thminute deflected own goal

Fuck wrong thread

Well he is now the highest scorer for any team in the qualifiers- so at least one trophy so far. :barscarf: :barscarf:

I only saw the highlights but there were a couple of chances I thought he should have put away.

Fair play he is quick and strong and gets around, featured in a lot of good moves with good interlink play but the end product needs a lot more practice. I really hope that comes for him, I like the effort he puts in, but at the moment he is behind in the pecking order, but ahead of Wally- add Wallys finishing to Welbecks abilities and you get a very good player.

100% agree Wellbeck is another lost cause, not good enough for the Arsenal.... puts a good shift in effort wise, but then again so would i on those wages

By that logic Ozil and this season BFG must be on near to the minimum wage a week, and Diaby busy paying us back

Really pisses me off when the wages argument comes into it. It has fuck all to do with a player being good enough or not.

Partially agree - you could argue that when you pay peanuts then you get monkeys (not bale of course  ), so by that logic if you pay big wages then you should get good quality in return 8)
