Re: Trophy Parade
I think the lower turn-out is a result of:
a) the trophy not being quite such a big deal as last year, as the 2014 win ended the nine-year drought
b) the quick turnaround time, and people not even knowing when it was taking place
c) the truly awful weather.

Are you kidding the parade is always the day after the cup final.FFS you only have to look back on last season.VoiceOfReason wrote:

I would say the crowd was about a third of last season.Poor fans couldnt put up with a bit of rain

The bbc site appears to be trying to make something of it.
I remember Ray Parlour on Islington town hall balcony grabbing the mic and singing a few verses of 'my old man' a few years back.
Re: Trophy Parade
Just got back, was outside the Armoury for the trophy lift. Got the feeling that the crowd, there at the stadium at least, was about the same size as last year? Not true? Haven't seen all the coverage yet so can't comment accurately enough.

Was OK, a fun enough afternoon. Definitely a little lower key than last year, the weather probably had a big part to play in that.
Thought Jack's spurs chants were pretty cringeworthy to be fair, why do we even need to give that lot a second thought? A half-twist Romford Pele leading She Wore a Yellow Ribbon was much more like it. More songs about The Arsenal and less about tottenham please!

Historically, the parade is often the next morning - but in recent years, it's become more controlled and organised, as police have to give notice of street closures, and such like.donaldo71 wrote:Are you kidding the parade is always the day after the cup final.FFS you only have to look back on last season.VoiceOfReason wrote:

Wasn't it last year when we advertised a 'potential bus ride' if we won, only for people to jump up in arms about us being too cavalier? I went on Arsenal.com before I went to bed last night, and they didn't have any details about a parade at all.

Yes and do you remember the howls of disapproval from Hull City, when it was publicised last season. The information about the parade has been on the Islington council website this week. You didn't have to look hard to find it.VoiceOfReason wrote:Historically, the parade is often the next morning - but in recent years, it's become more controlled and organised, as police have to give notice of street closures, and such like.donaldo71 wrote:Are you kidding the parade is always the day after the cup final.FFS you only have to look back on last season.VoiceOfReason wrote:

It didn't look to be as full as last year, but fair play it was pretty grim outdoors this morning.Dan_85 wrote:Just got back, was outside the Armoury for the trophy lift. All I'm saying is that there weren't any details about it on Arsenal's website. Had I been more bothered, maybe I would've looked elsewhere. No need to get snarky about it.nut flush gooner wrote:Yes and do you remember the howls of disapproval from Hull City, when it was publicised last season. Re: Trophy Parade
Didn't go last year or this year, too many people for me but you can see why any enthusiasm may have been less than last year because last year was such a big thing and the end of a long drought.
Still looks loads better than Chelsea's though.
Well played Jack, fuck any cringyness or over PC bulshit, we just won the Cup, they've been on it all night, they are allowed to make *word censored* of themselves and then cringe about it the next day like everyone else does.
The fact that he's wound so many opposition fans up makes it even better.

ITV news reported that the police estimated 250,000 turned up.

Fuck me all I said was how it was. You asked me why it wasn't publicised I gave a reason, don't get soo sensitive about it lad.VoiceOfReason wrote:All I'm saying is that there weren't any details about it on Arsenal's website. In other news looks like Jack is in trouble over his Tottenham berating today. The pictures where streamed live on Arsenal.com and they had to quickly leave the celebrations and go back to the presenter in the studio.
My pet hate is adults swearing in front of kids, and there would have been loads of kids at the armoury waiting to salute their heroes, not to mention the thousands watching it online. Pretty chavish by Jack imo.

Sorry, if a parent takes a child to a football match than they know what to expect, I take my 5 year old and he knows he may hear naughty words.nut flush gooner wrote:In other news looks like Jack is in trouble over his Tottenham berating today. What Jack did today is no different to a parent taking their child to a football match so let's not make it something it's not.
He is a Chav but everyone knows this anyway.
