RIP Thread

It's all a load of Cannonballs in here! This is the virtual Arsenal pub where you can chat about anything except football. Be warned though, like any pub, the content may not always be suitable for everyone.

Terribly sad to hear of a young woman taken from her kids like this. Tragic news. :(

The Last of the Greats - Truly, Truly Sad.

Whether a person likes the blues or just some blues or not at all - The likes of Muddy Waters, Robert Johnson,Blues Boy King, John Lee Hooker, and Howlin Wolf were the one's from whom the likes of Elvis Presley, the Rolling Stones, The Cream/Clapton, The Beatles were inspired by and so have in turn inspired the bands that many of us were inspired by to pick up an instrument and play...

There are many great guitarists and musicians in the world - but all have their roots and those roots their roots....Hendrix cited these as his heroes, Eddie Van Halen cited Hendrix and the Blues Men....Joe Satriani said like wise....as did Steve Winwood, Johnny Marr, Toni Iommi, Richie Blackmore,....etc etc

As someone said of BB King - "Other guitarists can play a million notes and never say anything...BB King could play one note and say it all".

If anyone wants to hear some BB King - this is a good one...

RTE football coverage front man Bill O Herlihy.. ..Never felt he had a massive knowledge of the game but he was a good presenter and kept the show ticking along.

Bill's epitaph; "Er.... roight, so!"

He was 76! I think he was presenting up until last year wasn't he? RIP.

So sad to hear about Charles Kennedy I met him a couple of times. A genuinely nice bloke and right about Iraq and the coalition. RIP.

Didn't agree with him on Iraq because asses needed to be kicked, but I too met him and he was a gentleman with a very natural charm. Reminded me of the only other politician I met that I didn't want to throat punch, John Hume, who also was very charismatic and down to earth.

RIP.
