Aliko Dangote rumour raises it's head again

As we're unlikely to see terraces again at football, this is the virtual equivalent where you can chat to your hearts content about all football matters and, obviously, Arsenal in particular. This forum encourages all Gooners to visit and contribute so please keep it respectful, clean and topical.

Aliko Dangote rumour raises it's head again

Post by GoonerMuzz »

http://www.express.co.uk/sport/football ... keover-bid

I've only posted the express link but i have seen it elsewhere recently, so i have a few questions:

How do people feel about this?

What do people think it would mean for the club as a whole

As this guy reportedly loves his football would we end up being another Chelsea, buying titles and cups?

Personally i'd love to get rid of Stan and Co but i'm not sure the pro's outway the con's here :rubchin:

I want to buy Arsenal, probably not going to happen though and neither is this. As far as I am aware no one is selling. He'd have to buy out Stan and Usmanov which seems incredibly unlikely.

Bit sceptical of somebody bleating the same line about we need to change our methods because we are producing talent and then selling it.

Don't think this is the root of our issue right now.

Apparently Stan only has to send a couple of million to his bank account to release the 2 billion purchase price.

Following the relaxation of the financial fair play - I Don't see how we can ever truly compete with Celery and City ( let alone Barca, Madrid, PSG & Munich) without being bankrolled.

The ploy of stockpiling cash, while waiting for the crazy, dizzying pieces to drop and top clubs going bankrupt doesn't look likely to come good :rubchin:
( I got grade B, O' level economics)

So we either accept being also-rans, or we have the backing of a financial powerhouse to put us on equal terms.

We are already owned by a billionaire, just one who doesn't' invest in the team, so having an owner who is willing to put his money where his mouth is, in my book, would be a forward step.

Out of Usmanov or Dangote I have no idea which would be the better option but either could stop us treading water under silent Stan and his £3m consultancy fees.

Btw, it was reported on the BBC world news last night ( I am currently in Sorrento on bikini watch)

Id happily take buying trophies, its the only way to compete, anybody who thinks differently is from the Wenker school of fairytales.Arsenal must move with the times,if its getting bankrolled so be it,id rather this and sit back in a May time sometime soon watching us win the Cl after sweeping the domestic double wouldn't you, than seeing us finishing 4th after 4th after 4th but being ever so high and bloody mighty in a moral sense,NO BRAINER

If we want to compete with the best of Europe clearly we'll need some external investment.

I cant see Stan selling ,he doesn't need to and the money in football and TV grows everyday !
Usmanov Owns Gazprom he doesn't need to sell !

In Short I think its a paper story pure and simple !

Didn't realise he is about 3 billion USD better off than usmanov and 3 times as much as Stan !let's see him put up or shut up! I don't agree that Stan wouldn't sell if the price was right he has no genuine loveof or the club and it doesn't matter whether usmanov sells his stake or not as he is a mere bystander in terms of power at the club
