Re: Should we make a cheeky bid for Jamie Vardy in Jan
I loved watching Wrighty back in the day but I have to admit that when I read that he had signed for us I didn't think oh yes he is going to be an Arsenal legend. I genuinely didn't know if he was a good buy or not but I knew he got stuck in and gave his all for CP. well the rest is history and as mentioned above I too wouldn't blame AW for taking a punt on Vardy if it didn't work out. Let's face it How can he be any worse than any of AW other recent striker attempts and he might just grab the opportunity a la Wrighty and who wouldn't mind that. As an aside do you think Theo will wake up one day and realise he has pissed his career away when he could have been a decent 100m runner - just a thought...!

Personally, I don't think I am. After all, the debate here is about finding a top class striker for ARSENAL not any old half decent striker.armchair wrote:You're defo being harsh on Kevin Phillips mate.
Phillips was only prolific in his first Premier League season with Sunderland (30 goals according to Wiki).
After that, he managed 14, 11, 6, 12, 10, 4, 1, and 1 goals and never made a dent at international level either (8 caps, 0 goals). I think there was a reason the top clubs (and England) stayed away and that's because he wasn't good enough.

Lets see how he goes between Nov 29 and Dec 30 - if he's still flying then he's likely a serious talent but to be fair they haven't played anyone of substance except the 5-2 loss to us. I think Leicester and Vardy may have peaked....
He may end up being a Michu or Andy Carroll so Liverpool can spend their 50m then sell him to Palace 2 years later for 3m

There's always going to be a risk signing anybody - anybody reasonable would accept that provided that it is a sensible signing. Fans are disappointing about how signing Reyes turned out but I can't ever remember hearing people moan about why we signed that Spanish pussy in the first place. The signing made sense - he was an exciting young attacker who could have added an extra dimension to a phenomenal side and showed a willingness to flex some financial muscle - for a number of reasons it didn't work and people accepted that.GranadaJoe wrote:I don't know if Vardy could do a job for us, but I think we should find out.
I wouldn't crucify AW if he buys a striker who turns out to be a disappointment, but it'd be inexcusable not to sign somebody, because we know Giroud isn't up to it and Theo will spend half of his career injured.
That courtesy isn't extended when you are catapulting an unproven striker in a piss-poor league like Giroud into the unchallenged fulcrum of the team's attack for seasons on end, or signing a no-mark crock from Ligue 2 to become probably the worst striker in our modern history in lieu of a quality striker which we desperately need.

Tbf g88ner, Ian Wrights stats for his country are nowhere near outstanding and there isn't a Gooner anywhere that wouldn't kill for a signing of his quality right now

Yes definitely well worth a try- what we lack is a plan B without Wally, Giroud will get a few goals for us and stay relatively fit season after season, but honestly Vardys workrate is outstanding, the rotation of Wally then Giroud as an impact sub worked well, Ozil was spot on form giving the foreward passes we know he is so good at. I like his workrate and relative injury free career (And also ability to politely get out of an England match on fitness grounds then bounce back with a goal next game ..!)
I stood at WBA in the second half and honestly poor Ozil his neck must be aching cos all he could do was look extreme right and pass or extreme left. Giroud meanwhile was AWOL and isnt able to run onto a pass like Vardy would do. Without Wally there just is no plan B. 73% possesion, it may have been 98% and we still wouldn't have scored more than the one
However- 25, 35m. No way, they would be expecting up to £50m, and AW would never ever go beyond 15 to 20m....

Okay, and so the question was:
Should we make a cheeky bid for Jamie Vardy in Jan?
But why on earth would an exciting pacey player who shoots from anywhere like Vardy want to join a club that are 3 positions below the team he is playing for when that lower placed team is run by a Clueless cuntt. ?

This wasn't aimed at any individual on this forum - it was directed at the blind legion of fans he seems to have amassed himself (many of which ***** themselves silly over him on social media).g88ner wrote:Who are you eye rolling at? - most on here don't think Theo is the answer either.VoiceOfReason wrote:I think I read recently that Walcott hasn't scored in more than three consecutive league games in his entire career. Vardy's done it in the first three months of his, in the top flight, so I'm pretty sure I know who I'd choose.
Still, Walcott is still learning, we gots ta give him time.

Vardy = Chav (and I don't mean a chelsea player)
He'll be playing in the Championship within 3 years. No thanks

I like Gnabry too. Who had a fucking brainwave to loan him out to mid-table dross so that he could rack up 13 minutes in the first 3 and a half months of the season? Sheer fucking idiocy.Herd wrote:I want vardy more than I want sanogol and less than I want Gnabry .

Jamie fucking Vardy? A man more famous for saying ''Chat shit get banged'' on his facebook page a few years ago than his football career.
Can't tell if this is a joke thread or not.
