What difference does it make? We're permanently in the 'red zone' from October onwards :banghead:

Every. Fucking. Season :suicide:

Change the word "them" for the word "us" and you'll see why no one in their right mind would want to risk that!

Even though the grammar would not be very good at all. :D

If we didn't have a decent shout at winning the league Id say stay in as it gives us a realistic shout at winning a European trophy. Last time we were in it we got to the final. But this season we've got as good as chance of winning the league so id jog on Europe and win the league, then go win Champions League in 2017 as champions of England 2016. That's the way it should work and a fitting farewell to Wenger.

Nice sentiment and I too would love to see that happen. But if Arsene doesn't sign at least 3 world class players (for me it's a striker, DM and CH) in January then we are not winning this very winnable PL, mate. :|

And unfortunately I don't believe for one second he will sign what we so obviously need. :x

3 world class players is a big overstatement imo. Not sure whether you could say any team in the league has three world class players. 3 world class players would turn the likes of Liverpool, Spurs and Everton into genuine title contenders or even favourites.

If we could sign a top striker in Jan, and maybe an alternative to Coq, I'd say go for both, but if not the PL should be our objective.

Exactly the point (except for Liverpool). The PL is that shit this season. With what we have we can get 3rd or 4th easily. With "average" to "goodish" new players we can get 2nd and maybe push for the title, but ultimately fail. But with 3 top class players we walk the PL.

We have a basic "decent" first 11. Giroudzema/Wally are not top class. They are not shit like some idiots on here like to claim, but they are not top class. Coq is not top class. Mert/Gabriel are not top class. 3 key positions. When those current first choice (but not top quality) players get their inevitable injury / drop in form late on this season, who do we replace them with? Our second string are shite. THAT is where we will lose the PL. It's too much of a drop in 3 key positions.

For me we need a striker ahead of Giroudzema/Wally. We need a CH ahead of Mert/Gabriel. We need a DM ahead of Coq. Those current first choice players should be the back up to 3 top class players. So when the top class players in those 3 key positions get injured/lose form, we revert to the likes of Coq/Giroudzema/Wally/Gabriel/Mert.

I guarantee you if he doesn't buy in top class we won't win the PL. I'll take anyone's money on that.

So Europa League would do me, to draw out AW's embarrassment for as long as possible.
This - maximum embarrassment for Wenger. If we go out it will be brushed off as an 'accident', and we'll be told it's a 'blessing in disguise' as we can 'concentrate on the league' (LMAO)

Managed to miss the entire 90 minutes of the Bayern thrashing and thankfully have an after work dinner that will prevent me from seeing any of next week's borefest too. Finding it quite therapeutic not watching us get rolled over in the Boreathon League this season.

All I hope is that when I check the news after the game that we're already qualified for the Europa. C'mon Bayern, do the honourable thing and draw 0-0 with Olympiakos so you both go through......a 2 goal win for us on the same night and its all confirmed !

It's coming ! The Diamond Club will be spitting into their G&Ts at the very thought of a club like ours, with such a rich tradition of winning all the major prizes in European football, lowering itself to rub shoulders with the likes of Dortmund, Liverpool, Ajax, Marseille, Lazio and Monaco who clearly aren't worth the shit on our shoes. We're competing with "Europe's elite" after all !

I'm looking forward to the UEFA Cup

I'm still convinced we'll somehow squeeze through in second place though above Olympiakos and Zagreb

Wenger's latest "greatest ever achievement" if that happens, trumping the miracles of St James's Park and The Hawthorns !

You're expecting TOF, a failure in Europe, to actually win the Europa?

Three European final appearances in over '30 years in football', three defeats.

Anyway, what do people think about our chances of getting second in the group? Will we beat the Greeks and go through, or choke as we usually do? It seems to be second or third for us. European football almost guaranteed for February/March.

Heroic failure as we can't quite force in that second goal.

We will never win the Europa League because for a start we will not give ourselves a chance of winning it. Genuine quality may be relatively scarce in the competition but it is packed full of fucking gritty savvy sides. Napoli, Dortmund, Bilbao, Fiorentina, Sporting Lisbon, Fenerbahce, Monaco, Besiktas, Basel - you play the kids at these sorts of sides and you will get rolled over. Not a hope in hell would we win 4 knockout ties like these to get to the final.
