D-Day for Flamini

What a wanker!!!!!!! why the fuck does this always happen to us? first edu does one for free, then pires now flamini! even though he was playing shit last year and years before, surely he was worth putting under some sort of contract to make sure we don't end up out of pocket again!

I really don't understand people calling Flamini a wanker. He had a contract with us, he honoured that contract and didn't break it. In my eyes he didn't do anything wrong and I wish him well. Fuck me, he was offered a chance to play for AC Milan. If he wants a chance to play for them, then he's entitled to take it.

Christ almighty, why do some people on here think we have a God given right to command loyalty from all players? AC Milan are a bigger club than us, so it's logical that he'd want to play for them, I'm afraid. Yeah, he was offered more money, but face reality...AC Milan are always going to me a more attractive proposition than Arsenal.

But why are AC Milan supposedly a bigger attraction than the reds? ok they've got a great stadium, history and support around the world, but haven't we? the premierships the place to be and I simply can't get my head around why a top young player would wanna play in a pedestrian league like serie A over english football other than financial gain. apologies if I've been a bit rash with the expletives, maybe it's the initial shock but I simply could'nt see him leaving us for a side like milan. maybe barca or real but never milan, they've been on the slide for a while now and i'm sure time will tell that this move for him was a mistake!

Some people really need to take their red and white tinted glasses off, methinks.

Is it possible? at times I struggle to work out where his best position is (probably on the bench!) but maybe he just could do a job in the middle of the park. if I were wenger though i'd probably save myself the hassle and buy some one with a bit of proven class in the summer.

it'll be interesting to see what happens with gilberto this summer as he's still under contract but maybe denilson can finally step up and hold down a place in the middle of the park?

I agree with nearly all of this except the last sentence.

Of course,
Milan is a nice city, AC Milan have a superb stadium and a glorious history. To some one of French, Italian and Corsican ancestory, who is being offered higher wages, it is more attractive for Flamini to go there.

But not neccessarily for other players.

Arsenal offer a lot too.

London is a more interesting city than Milan.
Arsenal have an incredible stadium.
Arsenal have an amazing training ground.
To many players, an English speaking country is good.

Flamini will also be unsure of certain things

He is automatic first choice for Arsenal, will he be for Milan?

Will living in Italy work out for him?

Will his high tempo game work in Serie A?

If everything from wages to first team/squad positioning was equal, there are only two things that would concern me about Ac Milan

1) Is the Italian League in a long term decline or will it bounce back soon? Whereas the EPL is on a super high though eventually that will decline. I have to admit I think Italy has a lot of problems to sort out before it becomes giants as a league again

2) Have AC Milan learnt their lesson? They should be starting an overhaul, building the team around the likes of Kaka. Attempts to persuade Maldini to stay on, two new contracts for very old squad players and bids for the bucktoothed one doesn't quite give that impression. If they sold off the old guard, they would get decent money for them and brought in younger players then they have a good chance of creating another dynasty. They should be in the rebuilding stage but with their money, shouldn't take long

Milan is know to be a lovely city, Flamini is getting paid more and let us be honest, world wide we have only gained a reputation recently, we need to win A CL to go up a level, win two to be giants. AC Milan have been giants for goodness knows how long and they are famed for getting a long time out of their players while paying very very well. It is understandable that he wishes to take his chance

Losing such a versatile player is going to be a blow as is getting no fee.
