🚨 Excl: Arsenal exploring a deal to sign 22-year-old Wigan Athletic goalkeeper Sam Tickle ahead of Friday’s deadline.

England U21 intl one of the preferred candidates for 3rd goalkeeper role, along with Wolves’ Dan Bentley.

Story for @TheAthleticFC: nytimes.com/athletic/57282…

Has the academy got no c.unt in there good enough for the 3rd keeper role ? Wtf is the story with the kid we signed from ajax ? Is he not 3rd choice keeper ? Honestly the thought of signing a 31 year old keeper who never got near the first team when he was with the club previously, and who has played a total of FIVE premier league games in his career, is frankly THE MOST EMBARASSING signing since silvestre

According to sky, the shammers and fulham are interested in reiss nelson but no bid yet - another player that I wish him well and hope he has a good career elsewhere. With nketieh I knew he wasnt good enough, with smith-rowe I know he could have been a star for us, but with nelson I am really not sure cos he has shown flashes of potential but really hasnt got any chance under the cone boy to show whether there is a quality player in there or not - no doubt many will strongly disagree with me on that (as is their right), but seriously how hard must it be to get 15-20 minutes once a month (if that) and be expected to be up to speed straight away ? He may not be good enough for a top club (and I too have my doubts), but he is one of ours and I do wish him well and believe he needs to go for the good of his career

Agree with this augie. I knew the bloke that scouted him for the Arsenal and he had high hopes for him when he was on the verge of progressing to the first team squad, which was pre pandemic. As you say, we haven't seen anywhere near enough to make a proper judgement and I wish him well, as I do Eddie.

Augster, see below -

Regards
Rodderz

(B) Chezzer retired today
(a) Any club that would offer 10 million for the Scottish Diaby would be absolutely fucking mental

I knew that but my point was that I would have made a move to bring him in BEFORE he retired - there needs to be a clear boundry between your first and second choice keepers and that has never been the case here imo. People and the meeja still talk about ramsdale as a number 1 keeper and the fact that he has retained his place in england squad has helped that narrative - bringing in another first choice keeper to replace ramsdale (espanyol keeper linked) is just an escalation of this mess imo, where as I think bringing in a keeper like chesney (though not necessarily him) creates clear definition between them and hopefully leads to less hassle down the line cos the back up keeper understands his role is that of cup keeper and back up keeper
Yeah good points. I fully expect Ramsdale to be out the gap by Friday night and I reckon we’ll just get some Mart Poom-esque journey man keeper to come in and warm his hole for the season on the bench.

I simply cannot believe he has assembled this squad and is going to leave us short up front ultimately making us lose out for a third year in a row.

I am making a promise to myself to not get as emotionally invested this year when it is fucking inevitable that we will fall short again.

If they players are serious about becoming premier league champions then they should be knocking on Arteta/Edus door and asking where the fucking striker is.

Jesus - injured constantly and not good enough anyway.

Havertz - not a natural cf.

Nkeitah - about to sell and utter shite.

Baffles me.

This is how I see it Scot. I'm struggling to get excited about the new season and there seems to be a general lack of enthusiasm on the forum, because most of us realise that failing to add a quality striker means we'll come up short. It was the most vital addition required, but Arteta wants to buy goalkeepers. :?

As for Havertz, not only not a CF, but just fucking useless.

🔴⚪️🔐 Arsenal have informed Jakub Kiwior and his camp that he’s not for sale.

Despite interest from Villarreal and Bologna on loan move, Arsenal want to keep Kiwior at the club.

Decision made as @wlodar85 has reported today.

Again I am asking what was the point in signing calafiori for so ? Both are left footed centre backs that can play left back, so wtf do we need both of them for ?? :? It's almost as though we dont have a proper plan in place
The Italian is a left back as well , thi k that's where he will mainly play. Anyone who keeps Zinchenko away from left back is OK with me. Think Kiwior is a decent player personally.

Yeah, made this point on here the other day. Not sure why Kiwior seems to have been pushed aside and at one point seemingly considered for sale. He did well in his spell at LB last season and I’d take him ahead of Zinchenko day long. Still, the boss seems to like a favourite.
Agree Kiwior is solid enough his tackling and positional sense is good but just dont think he has the pace to play full back in Premier....
Still better than the hapless zinchenko

I think Kiwor is also capable of playing DM, if I remember correctly. His versatility is likely the reason we're reluctant to let him go.

Unless Arteta or Edu simply enjoy the fact that Kiwor's wife is an 'international twerking champion' (Google it). :rubchin:

Have no idea why we're not sniffing around Chiesa if it's true he's going for a reported 10m to the Scousers

If hes finally over his recent injuries and gets back to his form he could be a great addition as cover for Saka

🚨🔴⚪️ Understand Southampton and Arsenal are advancing well in talks for Aaron Ramsdale deal!

Negotiations underway, it could get done soon. All parties optimistic.

↪️👀 Reminder: Arsenal have agreed on terms with Joan García from Espanyol if Ramsdale leaves.

It's not just adding a quality striker, but if as looks likely, the Feather is off to Palarse and Jesus will miss chunks of the season with injury, then we are left with Havertz, who with all the will in the world is not going to score 20+ a season.

We will be incredibly short up front, and neither Trossard or Martinelli is a suitable long term answer.

We need to sign a striker. Failure to do so would be criminal.

Toney is clearly available, but we don't want to be in a bidding war with the Chavs or Saudis and I suspect it's all about the money.

Still at least Edu's contract team has been working tirelessly throughout the window..... oh, hang on a minute.... :banghead:

Yep. If he's still here on Saturday, then he will be "like a new signing". The good ol' "internal market". :banghead:
