I agree he isnt bad but the nickname average Al sums him up, he is average at best and an ideal number 2 most certainly but a club like Arsenal should have a top class keeper imoSPUDMASHER wrote:I would too, but then I'm just pointing out that he isn't as bad as some would have you believe. The way people attack him I think he is lucky that Matthew Hopkins isn't alive today.flash gunner wrote:I went for defensive midfielder but i would kick out Average Al for a decent replacement just as quick
Which Failure To Strengthen Will Prove Most Costly?

I voted for CDM, i thought we needed one even before song started the season well. i think a good, powerful, tall and tough tackling CDM will take shed loads of pressure off cesc and the back 4.
Plus when Song goes to the ACON, he will leave a massive void and leave us exposed, if some peoples answer is buy someone in january unless we spend big money they wont be able to slot straight into the team and prem league.
Saying that Almunia is weak and has never looked like a solid or class number 1 even when mad Jens was at the club!!
Easy to say buy someone but i havnt seen many names knocking about any suggestions???

Don't tell me the scary Swale and EC3 have softened you upaugie wrote:Bergkamp-Genius wrote:What about strengthening the manager or the boardroom options...
I can't just pick out one from the list because we need a general addition of quality through the spine of the team, 3 from 4 of GK CB CM CF would have made me very confident we would do very well this year, 2 from the four would have given us a good chance, 0 from the four means we are going to suffer the same problems as usual regardless of how good we look in individual games or a run of games, our lack of the right kind of quality depth in our spine will be our undoing once again.
I thought the same but decided not to bother saying it - too tired to get into an arguement/debate about it today![]()

Spuddy, the goal against Pompey was surely Almunia's fault??!!SPUDMASHER wrote:Whilst I agree that he isn't all that. I think that's a bit harsh.
There's no way you could blame him for Diaby's goal and the ones against Pompey and Everton were the defenses fault, not his.
