2010/11 Fixtures

As we're unlikely to see terraces again at football, this is the virtual equivalent where you can chat to your hearts content about all football matters and, obviously, Arsenal in particular. This forum encourages all Gooners to visit and contribute so please keep it respectful, clean and topical.

2010/11 Fixtures

Post by NBM »

From Redaction:

Without wishing to sound like tabloid journalists, our 'source' has
let us in on a secret regarding our opening day fixture ; We are told
that Arsenal start away to Liverpool on the first day of the new
Premier League season.

The full fixture list is released officially on Thursday morning, so I
guess we will find out for certain then.

Seem to remember lots of hype about us starting away at West Ham last season, time will tell I guess.

I seem to remember reading somewhere that due to some local festival Liverpool always start away from home.

Someone else on the official forum said his leaked list had us playing at home to Bolton.

They're just leaked from the test draws. Can't see us playing such a big team in the first game, it will be in the second game at the earliest.

Thought that was vaguely interesting, so I had a quick look...

Liverpool's opening weekend fixtures:

2004 - Sp*rs (a)
2005 - Boro (a)
2006 - Sheff Utd (a)
2007 - Villa (a)
2008 - Sunderland (a)
2009 - Sp*rs (a)

Hmm.... seems to be a pattern emerging :?

Liverpool v Arsenal at Anfield looks doubtful, I reckon.

But given how close Anfield & Goodison are to each other it seems a bit strange that some local festival would mean Liverpool couldn't play at home that weekend but Everton can. :?

Good point :?

6 opening day away games in a row can't be a coincidence, though? - and maybe the run of away games goes back much further than that... I just couldn't be arsed checking

Nah the tow gorunds are virtually next to each other, plus the opening weekend of the season has changed over the past few years so it can't always be the same weekend as a festival. It just appears to be a coincidence of the fixture computer

Maybe they have organised it so that they play their last game at home.
