Never say never fellas

I know DB10 is already salivating at the prospect of big Sean taking over

Obviously, we have to make 2-3 acquisitions in key areas.augie wrote: ↑Wed Apr 13, 2022 7:36 amNos89 wrote: ↑Wed Apr 13, 2022 1:42 amConsider for a moment that currently Arteta is the fifth best manager in the Premier League behind Pep Guardiola, Jürgen Klopp, Thomas Tuchel, and Antonio Conte. He is only into his third season as a manager. Looking at that list, he ain't doing too bad a job given the task he has to do, to turn this club around. As a coach he will get better, as a manager he will get better, as will the players he is working with. I think we should stick with him because I cannot think of a manager who will actually want to come to us with a proven track record. Under Arteta, with the progress we've made, we are heading upwards and will win the PL in two years. It took GG 3 seasons but he didnt have to deal with billionaires owning clubs. It took Ferguson 7 season's and he had good pedigree as a manager. Arteta, it seems has a growing respect around Europe. We will only lose him to a club like City, Liverpool, PSG, Juve, etc...if he gets us in the top 4. He hasn't reached his highest level yet.
If this isnt trolling then I dont know what is![]()
Btw he took over a team that finished 5th just one point outside the top 4 in previous season - granted emery fcuked up in that run in, but the point remains that he didnt take over a team in free fall, and has dragged us down to 8th and led us to have our first season without european competition in over 20 years![]()
5th this year will be decent then its challenging for top 4 , no way we are breaking top 2.
Going places????Nos89 wrote: ↑Sat Apr 16, 2022 4:21 pmMy optimism is being severely tested. Arteta has to get 4th to stay in his job. Initially, I anticipated Arteta getting the sack by October, for Arsenal to appoint Conte and we finish 4th. Arteta surprised us by getting us back into contention and to the semi-final of the league cup. However, since being in control of 4th place we've fallen apart.
For me to stay in the job he has to finish in the top 4.
I still believe this team is going places and heading for the top. Who gets us there is anyone's guess.
The core of the team will keep on improving. This happened under Emery when we had a striker. Don't suppose you're old enough to have seen The Arsenal between 1974-1987. Mid '90's wasn't great for a couple of years. It's been much much worse.Gunner Rob wrote: ↑Sat Apr 16, 2022 4:33 pmGoing places????Nos89 wrote: ↑Sat Apr 16, 2022 4:21 pmMy optimism is being severely tested. We haven’t even got a striker to score us any goals.
I’m not sure that this club has been in a worse place since World War 1.
I started watching Arsenal in the late 70s, so can't really remember back as far as '74, but I do remember the majority of those periods you're referring to. I think what depresses me more about this period is that we should be much better than this with the talent we have at the club and the resources at its disposal. In the 70s Liverpool were the dominant force but we were still picking up cups and qualifying for the UEFA Cup and Cup Winners Cup. We also tried out a few managers right? Terry Neill was shot of, Don Howe came in, then George was appointed. The mid 90s was dire as you say but even then we reached the 95 CWC final, then fired GG in the one season we didn't have European football. This tool by comparison has some of the best kids we've produced in a generation, 160m invested, and we're still going to trust him to take us forward?? Its not even certain that we'll get 7th at this rate and could miss out on European football entirely again.Nos89 wrote: ↑Sat Apr 16, 2022 4:57 pmThe core of the team will keep on improving. 2016 - the best chance to win the league since 2004, but we'd stuck with Wenger whilst Klopp and Pep started their new jobs, and Podgie started making Spurs half decentNatural Born Gooner wrote: ↑Sat Apr 16, 2022 6:39 pmIn the worst battle for 4th place in living memory, and he's managed to fuck it up to monumental levels.
We sit by whilst top quality managers come and go at other clubs (something we have already suffered from) in the padt, while we'll lurch from this dud to another once he's found out even further.
