Totally agree!tonysaunders wrote:Whilst I think that we do need to buy a centre half or two, I'm not sure that's necessarily the problem. Vermalen is a class defender and Koscielny and Djourou aren't bad players. In my opinion, the problem isn't so much personnel, it's the way they're coached. It's hard to judge because you can't quite put your finger on what exactly is wrong, but it seems like bad decisions are made - a lot. There's always one player who forgets to squeeze up when they're trying to play offside or there's always one player napping when a free kick comes in.Chips and Chocolate wrote:Getting bullied like that by a Chinese team tells you a lot about that Arsenal team!
I'm trying to look at positives but seriously I can't: we don't know how to defend, that formation is fuckin' useless, we can't get past the center-backs! We're all so predictable! We're absolutely fucked if we don't sign at least 2 defenders but alas we've already made all our summer signings!
And why on earth does Wenger keep giving the likes of Vela or Rosicky a run? They'll never make it as Arsenal players...
Well let's hope for a better 2nd half![]()
The defence needs organising and I'm not sure Wenger is the one to do it. He's not going anywhere until the end of his contract (sorry, but it's true) so the only thing I can think of is getting some kind of defensive coach.
I'm always impressed by Lee Dixon on MotD. In my ideal fantasy world he'd come back to coach our defence. However, we all know that's not gonna happen and Wenger's gonna keep serving us up shit!

If you think it through in training sessions our defenders play against our forwards who will play one two's, pass. pass pass etc so when they face a team who play direct / high balls they are not used to dealing with it. Not one of our defenders is comfortable in dealing with a high ball if we win it is usually a poor header falling 10 feet away.
We don't change our training methods to cope with playing temas like Stoke / Bolton / Blackburn we carry on tip tapping and let them worry about us

I honestly don't think our defence actually communicate with each other at all - they do not play as a unit, just the 4 / 5 individuals.
Hope you're right. I just can't see it though. I disagree with you about his link-up play. He seems to give the ball away a lot, to me.AFCWozza wrote:His link-up play is superb, expect us to create a lot more chances this half with Walcott, Ramsey, Wilshire, Chamakh and Miyachitonysaunders wrote:Lookout Greentown. I agree on Vermaelen! Koscielny, while not bad, is not ready to be in the first XI. Playing Cahill or Samba alongside big Tom + replacing Clichy is a must in my opinion!tonysaunders wrote:Whilst I think that we do need to buy a centre half or two, I'm not sure that's necessarily the problem.
