Another good point. A lot was made last year of our defending of set plays and rightly so, but I think our set pieces 'for' are even worse, Honestly, when we get a free kick or corner I have no expectation of anything. It all looks as if its made up as they go along - no routines whatsoever. Corners more often than not hit the bloke five yards in front of the near post and the first three they let Walcott take were just catching practice for Cech. Attacking free kicks......I know he's out today but they need to use Arteta more often. TV5, Walcott, Cazorla etc have all tried and failed whilst our best dead ball taker by a mile is always overlooked.milesgooner wrote:Giroud's getting an awful lot of stick on here, but other questions need to be asked. Why have we got no one that can cross a ball or take a corner? Cleverly just set one up on a plate for Van Persie with the first cross Man U had. We must have had 20 that did not beat the first man or went to the goalkeeper. Sagna is not playing for a move in my opinion, he is just suffering from a shocking lack of confidence. But as with Giroud there is no one that can come off the bench to replace them. This lack of quality in the squad is clearly down to Wenger. We need to buy 3 proven players in the window and the more he says it isn't necessary the more his position becomes untenable.
Mate - the entire team were shit in the first half weren't they? I'm not excluding Abou from that - he was proper shite as well. I was screaming at Cazorla again though - does he realise that he is allowed to get involved in the first 45 minutes. My father-in-law is a Manc and was round here watching it and commented after 30 mins he'd forgotten Cazorla was even playing. Honestly, anyone playing a high paced pressing game lately has strangled him out of the gamedonaldo wrote:SteveO

But in the first half Diaby and Coquelin were chasing shadows while the Chelsea midfied were cutting us to shreads. The game was lost in the first half
indeed cazorla disappeared yet again,he is a luxury player we simply can not accomadate at the moment, thats more cos we are piss poor than him being at faultSteveO 35 wrote:Mate - the entire team were shit in the first half weren't they? The first half was dire from keeper through to centre forward, without exception

van Persie undoubtedly gets miles better service than Giroud. But somebody planted a cross right on Giroud's head 6 yards out today and he fluffed it. They tried to praise Ivanovic for managing to back in but it was a free header and he missed it. van Judas created a yard of space with his movement and was then clinical with the header. With Giroud it seems like somebody has to create the perfect chance for him because his movement isn't great, and even when he is gifted a sitter he misses half the time. Was anybody in the world confident that Giroud was going to score at 0-0? His finishing is woeful when he does manage to get into a shooting position. Bendtner is a better striker.milesgooner wrote:Giroud's getting an awful lot of stick on here, but other questions need to be asked. Why have we got no one that can cross a ball or take a corner?
