We need new signings but Wenger doesn’t think we do. He is pretty much on record as saying he won’t be buying any defensive minded players during January.

Wrong: Wenger said he thinks the injury situation leaves the squad short on numbers and he thinks we need to sign two midfielders, one to ...

I remember (in 1998) that I did not believe we could do it until we won 4-1 at Blackburn in April. Scorers that day Bergkamp, Parlour and Anelka. If I remember rightly Paddy confirmed his legend status that day.

Anybody see us winning 4-1 at Wigan in April and believing we'll have a midfield ...

Whats going wrong with our season?

Thrown away lots of stupid points - looking at the fixture list, we should have been clear at the top by November - instead we're out of the race.

Reasons? Wenger's failure to replace Flamini, Gilberto and Diarra in defensive midfield (not signing Alonso was a ...

Am really having mixed feelings over this deal though rebel - on one hand I would like to see a player of his quality, age and experience join but on the other hand I am really really concerned that we may well be blowing most if not all of our transfer kitty on him when we clearly have other major ...

But Bullard plays higher up the pitch - he might be an ugly fucker but he's not a defensive midfielder.

I agree with Rebel, that we'll probably end up signing him, but it'll take till near the end of the transfer window - Zenit need to sell a player who obivously wants to leave and who can buy out his contract on the cheap but with us starting the bidding so low, their incentive is to wait to see if ...

He was crap at Blackburn but we're not going to get Yaya etc, and most of our cash is earmarked for Arshavin. The other suggestion in the pot at the moment is Battaglia from Boca - 28 years old, coming from Argentine football and a flop at Villareal (and his family apparently couldn't adjust to life ...

Barry Ferguson?

Someone may have suggested this already but anyone think signing Barry Freguson would be a good idea? Newcastle were supposed to be trying to sign him for £3mil. He's 30 but, given how weak we are in defenisve midfield and how we're shopping in the bargain bucket, that looks a good price for a ...

Can't see us finishing as high as 2nd, though Pool do look pretty fragile. But the chances of Chelsea being dragged into a contest with Villa and us now look good - not just cos they lost to the mancs, they also had no drive or energy. Big phil is right, now he'll find out more about his squad, and ...

Re: Time to STOP !! The Criticism of Arsenal Fans !!

It's about time the criticising of Arsenal fans for booing Eboue ceased. The criticism has been fuelled by hypocritical journalists who have never missed an opportunity to lambast Eboue in the past for his theatrics & bad tackles. The fact is that Eboue was in danger of costing Arsenal the win & a ...

Great posts Gus, you make some very good points but it is amazing how you manage to turn Gallas's latest Billy-Big-Bollocksism into a full-frontal attack on Wenger.

Was Wenger at fault for appointing Gallas captain after his summer 2007 outburst? Yes. Was Wenger at fault for not sacking him after ...

I just wanted to say thanks for all your very kind thoughts, and for the practical advice. The whole situation still feels surreal, it's such a difficult thing to accept, but your posts help. My Mum is of course very scared, but I'm determined that my family will do our very best for her.
