As we're unlikely to see terraces again at football, this is the virtual equivalent where you can chat to your hearts content about all football matters and, obviously, Arsenal in particular. This forum encourages all Gooners to visit and contribute so please keep it respectful, clean and topical.
Fat Sam? Jesus Christ have a fucking word with yourselves ffs. I'm genuinely embarrassed for a couple of you.
I'd take Arteta over Fat Fuck Sam anyday. In fact I'd take Wenger back ahead of Fat Sam ffs. I'd take a dead fucking walrus ahead of Fat Fucking Sam and his abysmal record of spoofing his way into management jobs and then failing fucking miserably.
So your only choice left is Fat Sam or Moyes, who do you choose to manage us
Jeepers.... um.... suicide?
Hypothetical question, Fat Sam, moyes and Arteta...two bullets, what do you do?. Shoot fat Sam twice .
It would take two bullets too.... one to punch through the layers of Fat the second to hit a vital organ.
people forget that Bolton played some good football under him with Djorkaeff, Jay Jay Okacha, Hierra, Campo, N'Gotty and Wilshire.
plus they were organized and hard to beat. he had our number - we won just 4 out of 12 games against them.
Plus it would be a massive fuck you to Wonga too
Tbh so would I
Fat sam (b**tard ) would clearly be a short term appointment, but one who would at least make us more organised and defensively better while he is at the club. Arteta will come in and try to play more wengerball which will of course lead to more ineptitude
I dont think it will get him any praise from the media, and I know that it certainly wont get him any praise from the fans. Even the star newspaper are already mocking the decision to appoint arteta, and are suggesting that it might lead to an sos call to wenger by christmas - do you think that the media will give him a pass on this bizarre appointment, when all and sundry are already saying how ridiculous it is ? If/When this goes tits up, I think that the fans will unite to call for gazidas sacking and he will happily be thrown under the bus by kroenke
Augie mate I'm not saying it's a good appointment ,I want Arteta like I want chlamydia .
I wanted DB 10 (not our one) but I'm in a minority of 1 ,failing that I was up for Viera ,Jardim or even Allegri but I suspected Arteta was the one from the start ,I just didn't think Gazidis had the balls for such an appointment as I agree it could backfire on him.
Gazidis doesn't want praise he wants power and now has the license to exercise it . Right now he's swinging his big dick around like he's wanted to do for years but couldn't and this has clouded his decision making.
Arteta may surprise us and lets be honest we have the basis of a good squad and our defects are so glaring that I could do a better job than the previous incumbent ,(with our db 10 as assistant manager of course ).
The defense can be fixed or at least patched up and with a left back a goalkeeper and a decent holding midfielder , we would again be challenging for that all important virtual trophy or higher .
Almost anyone could add 15 points to this seasons meagre haul and that will get you into the chumps league ,Gazidis is acutely aware of this.
Arteta wont rock Ivans boat so he fits the bill for him perfectly .
Get ready for the reign of Ivan The Terrible you will be seeing a lot more of him and his opinions in the months and years to come ,he will make David Dein seem like a recluse !
oh and Kroenke gives zero shits about the fans or the football its just business !
If I take your kind job offer can I sack Comedy Iwobi?
I liked rioch and was never happy with the way he was treated - ian wright felt he was bigger than the club and got him sacked, in a similar way to how the leicester players shafted ranieri
I have to admit that I lost a lot of respect for wright over that debacle, and that feeling lasts still
Fuck that horseshit ya bald bastard. Rioch was a fucking moron. He tried to get Wrighty to "improve" by studying Bolton clogger John fucking McGinley ffs. He should have been sacked om the spot for that alone.
Wrighty didn't get Rioch the sack. Dein always had Wenger in mind and Rioch was only ever a temporary appointment.
JOHN FUCKING MCGINLEY FFS.
DB10Gooner....Enjoy Ed Sheeran in the park tonight.. I know you have been looking forward to it for ages.
I went dressed as a 10 year old girl so I'd fit in with all the 10 year old girls and gays that form his fan base. And you know what? Police station breakfast is not half bad.

You've got to be kidding me. Fat Sam?
I'd rather we gave it to Eboue.
Ok I exagerate and my blind hatred of fat sam is well known on here - I suppose the point I was trying to make is, that almost any experienced manager (except wenkercunt) would be a far, far better appointment than giving the job to a guy that has never managed in his life. To compound the issue, the rookie manager concerned (arteta) and the guy he is rumoured to be bringing in alongside him (cazorla) are both tippy tappy disciples whose mantra has always been about entertaining football, when they are the exact qualities that we dont need in the next manager. Appointing a guy with no experience to sort out this shitfest is bad enough, but when a system is clearly not working, you need to change direction instead of bringing in more of the same. The c.unts who claim to be Gooners that have been stating that the next manager has to be a guy that supports the possession/passing football mentality (the Arsenal way as it is now referred to ) need to take a share of the blame for this appointment - well they are gonna get their way now and we'll see how long it takes before they start complaining about no improvements and nothing changing
talks are taking place today with Arteta today.
by strange coincidence this is also the day that Wenger is back at the club to "clear out his desk", but no doubt will have a lot of input into these "talks"
I predict Arteta will be unveiled as the new manager tomorrow.
The argument made for Arteta is a relative one, people are saying well Pep & Zidane both had success in their first years despite limited experience, so why not Arteta.
Well then fair enough, but if that is the argument made for Arteta, then it needs to be applied = we should expect success in the first season or he gets the sack.
If you think you can make the argument that he should be manager based on the success of other inexperience managers, then dont move the goal pots later on and say he needs time to adjust if he doesn't initially succeed.
With the disasterous contract handed to Wenger last season, this appointment needs to be successful otherwise Gazidis should go.
The man is a snake and will do whatever it takes to keep his job.
The guy rightly says that there are clubs across europe that we simply cannot compete with financially, but realistically how many are there ? PSG, Bayern and the 2 spanish clubs are (along with both manc clubs and the chavs) the only european clubs that are a financial level (or two) above us, but arseblog seems to be suggesting that we are well down the financial wealth list. He says that maybe we should be operating like dortmund, but I'm sorry they are at least 1 level behind us financially. We are a huge club in a state of the art stadium, in one of europes biggest cities, and a club that has a massive worldwide fanbase - even without financial contributions from our wig wearing wanky owner, we generate far more income than any other club apart from the 7 I listed above. A big part of the problems around the club is that they and a large portion of our fanbase, seem to be selling us short and "settling" for where we are instead of striving to be at the top table like a club of ours should be - putting us on the same level of a club like dortmund (not team wise) is setting the bar low and ensuring that expectations are minimised and easily met, and that should not be who we are.
Again he talks about identity and this is something I alluded to earlier - I wish to fcuk that our fans stopped suggest that playing the arsenal way is synominous with style and flair, cos I think that if you check back in our 132 year history, playing dogged and hard to beat football is actually The Arsenal Way. I accept that times have changed and football has moved on, but coaches like allegri and simeone have proved that being defensively solid and having top quality up front are compatible and are ever preferable these days - arteta and cazorla are not the type of guys to bring an identity back to our club, unless that identity is to play passing football but defensively naive, and tbh that is how we have been perceived for years anyway

Very good point - when it started to appear that arteta was a certainty to be our new manager, I did think that he was very much a wenker proposal

The difference is that both had at least managed their club's B teams before they got their main job - arteta has ZERO managerial experience.
Second point is that both took over clubs that were in a fairly good condition and were not far away from success and with the financial resources to make that step - arteta is coming into an absolute shitfest, without having the type of funds to fix it straight away, without having the profile to attract top quality players to lift us to the required level, and again without having any experience or pedigree for doing this kind of a job

That is all well and good and to a point I agree. The big problem is that we were told by our chief executive that we would be competing with teams like Bayern which has clearly not happened.

That is the point I am making - underselling us by putting us on the same level as dortmund is unacceptable, and completely contradicts previous statements from our sleezebad c.unt ceo

And this is exactly what makes us look like a fool because actions and public statements and interviews contradicts each others in every turn. Is Gazidis so stupid that he can't see this or does he really want to push higher but uncle Stan opposes him?
